Names Unknown — Tina Farifteh  publication design ︎︎︎
An attempt to offer time and respect.

Brief

‘Names Unknown’ is a physical translation of Tina Farifteh’s audio-visual project ‘The Flood’. Containing a record of deceased boat migrants the exhibition and the publication is an attempt to offer time and consideration to the actual people that died and suffered because of their desire for a better life. The publication tries to create a sense of urgency and respect that is hard to find in our current political environment.

Approach

The main objective with this publication was to be as respectfull and carefull as possible with it’s serious content. And really communicate the facts to the audience. By hiding the names and images in foldouts covered in crops of water, the reader/audience is forced to take the time and look. Rather then flipping to another well designed photo book. The cover again shows the endless waves with subtle typography to put the focus on the people behind these stories rather then the design.
