Diplomatic relations and culture captured through stored gifts and objects.
Info
Polite Fictions examines gifting rituals in the diplomatic arena, wherein gifts once had the power to initiate negotiations, ease tensions or send subtle messages.

We linked up with Suzanne to design a photobook that carries the investegative nature of Polite Fictions.
Approach
Our main objective was to capture the emptiness that bureaucratic easthetics offer. The stoic imagery of archives and locked away objects. Endless letters and email back and forths. By framing a lot of the content we wanted to give the book the same sturdiness as the politics behind it. Finally a traditional dark green linnen cover without imagery further emulates a bureaucratic and closed of world.
